O’FALLON HOMECOMING & HERITAGE ORGANIZATION
The Next Generation of Homecoming
We would like to thank the current Board of Directors of the O’Fallon Homecoming Association and acknowledge their many years of dedication and tireless effort. The association has shouldered the responsibility of organizing and managing the previous Homecoming Festivals. They have also led the initiative to reinstate the Homecoming, which was suspended temporarily in 2009. The time has come to pass the torch to a new grassroots coalition of O.T.H.S. alumni, O’Fallon residents and city officials; all focused on bringing back the 90 year tradition of Homecoming in O’Fallon. This new group will be known as the O’Fallon Homecoming & Heritage Organization.
Originally instituted to welcome home soldiers returning from WWI, Homecoming has grown to represent so much more. While maintaining our patriotic pride in the military men and women of today as well as yesterday, Homecoming has also come to proudly represent the events surrounding the O’Fallon Township High School Homecoming Celebration and our many alumni.
O.H.H.O. has formed to organize our annual heritage festivities in conjunction with the O.T.H.S. Homecoming. All residents of School District 203 and O.T.H.S. alumni are encouraged to join us in this endeavor.
The new Homecoming weekend will kick off with the parade starting at 10:00 on Saturday morning, featuring floats representing local businesses and organizations as well as the Homecoming Queen and her Court, the nationally recognized O.T.H.S. Marching Panther Band, drill teams with flags and Honor Guards delivering military salutes. In addition, there will be food, music, games, rides, competitions and of course, the incomparable O.T.H.S. Panther Football Game. We are also working to coordinate all O.T.H.S. Class Reunions to coincide with these events so that Panther Alumni can come home every year to renew old friendships with their own classmates along with alumni from other years as well. It is our intention to begin new traditions while bringing additional revenue into the community consistently year after year.
This will be the perfect time to showcase O’Fallon--our heritage, our military, schools, businesses, merchants and retailers, our local non-profits and service groups, and the great sense of community that O’Fallon is known for. This festival is a celebration, and we have a lot to celebrate!
Mayor Gary Graham and our other city officials support our endeavor and are looking forward to once again celebrating Homecoming with renewed enthusiasm and participation from the community.
